Washington Square Park is a 9.75-acre public park in the New York City neighborhood of Greenwich Village, Manhattan. One of the best known of New York City's 1,900 public parks, it is a landmark as well as a meeting place and center for cultural activity.

Mary Jane Watson walked to Washington Square Park to get away from Hydro-Man. However, Hydro-Man followed her there. Hydro-Man then told Mary Jane that he now had the power to give her what ever she wanted. Hydro-Man then demonstrated his powers by making the water in a fountain in Washington Suare Park to shoot into the sky. Spider-Man then arrived and rescued Mary Jane.
