Tri-Spider Slayer chase[]
In "Return of the Spider Slayer", doesn't the Slayer actually chase Osborn's car on the Manhattan Bridge, over the East River? There are noticeable differences, but it does look similar to the GW Bridge, so the confusion is understandable. This also seems to be supported by Smythe's binocular view from the Chrysler Building (which would also place the Oscorp complex in Brooklyn). Any thoughts on this? --Bluerock (talk) 10:28, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
- After looking at pictures of both bridges the bridge from "Return of the Spider-Slayer" definitely looks more like the George Washington Bridge. If you look up pictures of the real-life bridges the arch extends up taller on the Manhattan Bridge. The bridge in this episode has a rectangle shape above the arch which looks closer to the real-life George Washington Bridge.Brandonbaker01 (talk) 02:25, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. I just want to help improve the accuracy on the wiki. However, after viewing some more photos for reference, I believe my original observation was accurate.
- For example, if you look at closeup shots of the towers in the episode, especially the moments where the Slayer stops the car then chases Spidey (including the CG model), you can see the distinctive four spheres (finials) on top, from which the suspension cables are attached. As you mentioned, the Mahattan Bridge's arches do extend higher than the GW in real life, and in those shots, this does appear to be the case.
- For comparison, if you look at the GW Bridge in "The Alien Costume, Part I", the Bridge towers have no spheres on top, and the arch doesn't extend as high.
- Hope this illustrates better what I was getting at.

- The images were not convincing enough? --Bluerock (talk) 20:38, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- I have compared pictures of the bridge from Spider-Man to real life pictures of the George Washington Bridge. Sorry, but i have to disagree with you on this. The bridge in Spider-Man 100% looks like the George Washington Bridge.Brandonbaker01 (talk) 03:28, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Very curious. I wonder which exact images/episodes you're using for your comparisons. To me, the spheres, arch height, and location relative to Crime Central, would all support it being the Manhattan Bridge, as was shown above in those now-deleted images (I can always reupload them, if you didn't manage to view them). You could also upload/present your own images that you are referencing, so we both understand what the other is actually seeing, because our visual observations don't seem to be aligning.
- Additionally, I found an interview by Marvel Animation Age with Supervising Producer Bob Richardson, in which he references "Norman Osborn's industrial plant near the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan Bridge."
- That would definitely support the visuals from "Return of the Spider Slayer".

- See, that's better than posting some random pictures. Actual confirmation from Bob Richardson. If he says it's the Brooklyn Bridge then I'll change it when I get a chance.Brandonbaker01 (talk) 18:09, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Well, the images weren't random, they were used to illustrate the very points that I was making. I'd hoped that would provide clarity, rather than be dismissed out of hand. I'm still confused as to why they were summarily ignored, since they were actual screenshots from relevant episodes, alongside their real-life counterparts, highlighting the structures of the two bridges.
- At least Bob Richardson's words finally swayed the argument. I doubt the words of the show's creators will always be there to solve every disagreement, but I'm glad we won't be working at cross-purposes on this particular point.
