Doctor Strange kept the powerful Wand of Watoomb in the Sanctum Sanctorum.
When Baron Mordo learned of this he sent the cultist of the Center for Reunification to steal the Wand of Watoomb. When the cultist arrived Doctor Strange, Wong, and Spider-Man were able to fend them off.
Baron Mordo later on had the cultist attack the Sanctum Sanctorum once again, this time with Spider-Man under his mental control. Doctor Strange was able to free Spider-Man from Baron Mordo's spell but the cultist managed to get away with the Wand of Watoomb.
Doctor Strange and Spider-Man were later able to defeat Baron Mordo and Doctor Strange returned the Wand of Watoomb to the Sanctum Sanctorum.
In the comics
The Sanctum Santorum is located at 177A Bleecker Street, New York City, NY 10012-1406, on the corner of Bleecker Street and Fenno Place in the heart of Greenwhich Village.
The land the Sanctum Sanctorum was built on appears to be a focal point of msytical engeries with a nerve center of dragon ley lines running beneath foundations, the veins of magic running through the Earth. Years before any permanent Western European settlements, a powerful Native American Indian Shaman cursed the land to bind the chaos-entity Tyanon to that place and bar her full access to Earth. The site continued to serve as a place for arcane Native American Indian rituals. Shamans of the Wappinger tribe were known to journey here for vision quests.
With the arrival of European colonizers, the site became used for pagan sacrifices. Before any permanent structures were built on the land, it was used as a Potter's field: a mass grave for paupers and inmates from New York's first penitentiary, Newgate Prison.
The land was also used by a Satanic cult that performed human sacrifices.
The Sanctum Santorum was later built on the land.
Before the Sanctum Sanctorum was purchased by Doctor Strange, the dwelling gained the local reputation of being haunted. It was the structure's supernatural aura that originally drew Doctor Strange to it when beginning his practice of the mystical arts. Before claiming the mansion as his Sanctum, Strange rid the building of Tyanon and imprisoned her familiar.
Window of the Worlds
The large window in the pattern of the anomaly rue is a magical algorithm. This is said to be the "Window of the Worlds" or the seal of the Vishanti and is a power symbol of protection. The symbolic Window has survived the Sanctorum's destruction and appears in every iteration of the home.
