The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier is a fortress that floats above the clouds of New York City and is the base of operations for the top-secret government agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D.
History[]
Who built the helicarrier is unknown, but it is used as the base of operations for the government agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. The helicarrier is able to hover several stories in the air and is kept above the clouds so nobody can see it.
When S.H.I.E.L.D. learned that the Chameleon planned to sabotage a peace treaty signing at the United Nations, Nick Fury had J. Jonah Jameson brought to the helicarrier and told him that if he saw anything suspicious to alert his agents.

In the comics the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier was built by Stark Industries and designed by Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and the X-Man known as Forge.
