The Brotherhood of Mutants was a group of evil mutants that fought for mutant supremacy. The Brotherhood was lead by Magneto.
History[]
Magneto believed that that mutants were superior to normal humans and that the only way for mutants to survive was to gather an army of mutants to fight the normal humans. This army was known as the Brotherhood of Mutants.
When Magneto took control of the island of Genosha, he used it as the base for the Brotherhood. Mutants from all over the world gathered at Genosha to join Magneto.
As Professor X was dying the X-Men went to Genosha to defeat Magneto. The X-Men hoped that if Magneto was defeated then his followers would abandon him.
While the X-Men were fighting Magneto, Magneto learned that Xavier was dying. Magneto went with the X-Men to the Xavier Mansion and used his magnetic powers to enhance Xavier's telepathy. Xavier was then able to send a telepathic message to Lilandra. Lilandra then came to Earth and took Xavier to the Shi'ar Empire so they could heal him.
A short time later Magneto returned to the Brotherhood and they started their war. This war became known as the Westchester War.
During the Westchester War, Magneto constructed a new Asteroid M and used it as the base for the Brotherhood.
Fabian Cortez also joined the Brotherhood. However, Cortez betrayed Magneto and tried to kill him. However, he failed.
Five years after the Westchester Wars started Magneto died which put an end to the fighting. The Brotherhood then disbanded.

In the comics[]
The original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants was formed by Magneto and consisted of Toad, Mastermind, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch. Magneto believed that mutants were superior to normal humans and wanted to use the Brotherhood to disrupt normal society. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch joined the Brotherhood because Magneto had saved Scarlet Witch from an angry mob in Europe and they were in his debt. However, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were not criminals and wanted to leave. Magneto and the Brotherhood then attacked the small country of Santo Marco. The X-Men arrived at Santo Marco and fought the Brotherhood. However, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch turned against Magneto and helped the X-Men defeat the Brotherhood.
